by presenting talks about remaining healthy in the heat of Las Vegas
to the employees of a local construction company. This is such
an importan topic in the 120 degree plus heat so please ask anyone
on the staff of Metatest to review this information if you have any
questions. We are excited to announce the additional Corporate
Wellness activities this year and look forward to keep the people of
Las Vegas safer and happier through their employers.

electric for the whole weekend. Jared ran the Half Marathon

a great company of great people who understand the mentality and

and how they can work best for you.
Dec. 7, 2009:
The Inaugural Rock N Roll marathon is over and Jared set another PR
in the 26.2 mile race despite the cold weather and odd aid station
configuration. It was a great day for the Metatest team with
the entire training group finishing the race and many participants
setting personal best times. Congrats to our friend Randy Paar

top 10% of the race. Another year ending with a good hometown

is known for being the hardest full Ironman distance course in the
United States. It was a beautiful day and Sam kicked it off
with an early morning 2.4 mile swim with a few hundred other
athletes in Lake Mead. She quickly swam a 1:10 and was out of
the water in the front pack and passed the timing chip to our
cyclist who was a previous trainee on the Metatest cycling program.
Jared took off on the grueling marathon run at 4:00PM. He set
a 7 minute PR on the toughest course he has ever ran.

July 15, 2009:
Our very own Jared Sweet had his name and picture published in the
July edition of Ultra Running magazine for his effort in the Labor
of Love 50k in Las Vegas. It was a fun run even though it was
a tough uphill with odd Las Vegas weather. It actually snowed
in the canyon for a couple of miles of the race. It was
Jared's first trail effort and it proved as challenging as the Race
Director of Calico Racing
billed it. Keep running Jared, we are proud of you!
June 13, 2009:
Samantha Sweet from the Metatest staff just completed the Ironman
70.3 in Boise, ID. Sam was 40 when she first starting working
toward her dram of being an Ironman competitor. Now at 43 she
has completed half of that dream with the other half to be reached
when she finishes the Ironman Saint George in early 2010. She
is accomplishing this goal with a lot of hard work and a lot of
introspection into her self both physically and mentally. Sam
credits the scientific information that she learned from the Vo2,
RMR, and body comp tests for being able to get to her goals this
quickly. For more about Samantha and her accomplishments
please visit her blog at
Sam's Blog.
Congratulations Sam, we are all very proud of you!
May 16 & 17, 2009:
The Metatest staff hosted a Vo2 Max testing clinic at
Mcghies Bike Store on Fort Apache
and Flamingo in Las Vegas. Many cyclists are curious to know
how they rank against other cyclists in Vo2 ratings. Other
cyclists want to know more about how to improve their own enjoyment
in cycling by becoming faster or being able to ride longer. At
clinics like this one we can reach those curious cyclists and give
them the help that they need. Thanks to McGhies for hosting
this event and look for another event like this in 2 months.
April 30, 2009:
The Metatest staff attended the Trek Ladies Night Out at
Mcghies Bike Store on Fort Apache
and Flamingo in Las Vegas. Over 100 ladies showed their
support for cycling and attended the all female event. The
staff of Metatest spoke with many people interested in improving
their cycling performance and body compositions. It was a great
event and we look forward to doing this one next year.
